WebIt's likely caused by a cold agglutinin if the RBC count and hematocrit are very low, but the hemoglobin is normal. The MCHC will also be incredibly high. We resolve this by warming the sample at 37 degrees for 30 minutes. If this does not work, then we will do a saline replacement. Sometimes several saline replacements are needed.
